Rabies Vaccine Clinics

Rabies is a viral disease that affects the central nervous system of warm-blooded mammals, including humans. The most common transmitters of the disease are bats, foxes, skunks and raccoons; however pets and other domestic animals can also spread rabies. In Ontario, all cats, dogs and ferrets must be vaccinated for rabies at 3 months old and must remain up to date for the duration of the pet’s life.

To help protect people and their pets from the disease, Lakelands Public Health partners with local veterinary offices to promote Reduced-Cost Rabies Vaccination Clinics.

Upcoming Clinics

Reduced-cost rabies vaccination clinics are available at participating veterinary offices. Cost is $40* per pet (cash only) for the vaccination. Contact the veterinary office directly to inquiry about which vaccination(s) — the 1-year or 3-year vaccination — will be available. Some offices will also be providing microchips (optional) for an additional cost.

Dogs must be on leash and cats must be in a secure carrier. No appointment necessary.
