Immunizations and Vaccines
Vaccines prevent serious illnesses — including many that are easily spread in schools and daycare centres. Routine vaccinations for babies, children and adults are offered free of charge. Vaccination is important across the lifespan; Ontario's Routine Immunization Schedule provides information on the vaccines recommended at each age.
Immunization Clinics
Our routine immunization clinics offer vaccines for people of all ages for those without a local Health Care Provider. Appointments are required, as walk-ins are not currently available.
Immunization Records and Exemptions
The Health Unit does not receive automatic updates of immunization records from doctor’s offices. Instead, the Health Unit relies on parents and caregivers to keep their child’s immunization records updated.
Immunizations for Daycare
Under the Child Care and Early Years Act (CCEYA), Lakelands Public Health helps ensure children in daycare are fully immunized. Find information on what vaccines are required.
Grade 7 Immunization Program
Students in Grade 7 are eligible to receive Hepatitis B, HPV, and Meningitis immunizations at no cost. For convenience, these immunizations are offered in the school setting.
Immunizations for School
Under the Immunization of School Pupils Act (ISPA) Lakelands Public Health is required to collect and maintain up-to-date immunization records for every student registered for school.
