  • Lakelands Public Health Honours Red Dress Day

    (May 5, 2026) – Each year, May 5th marks the National Day of Awareness for Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women, Girls, and 2SLGBTQQIA+ Peoples (MMIWG), which is also known as Red Dress Day. According to the National Inquiry into Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women and Girls, Indigenous women and girls are 12 times more likely to be murdered or go missing than non-Indigenous women in Canada.

  • Warning: Toxic Drug Supply in Haliburton County

    (April 30, 2026) – Lakelands Public Health is issuing an alert due to a high number of suspected drug poisonings related Paramedic Service calls reported in Haliburton County. The substance of concern is suspected to be opioids. Multiple doses of naloxone may be required.

  • Lakelands Public Health Encourages Social Connections During Mental Health Week

    April 28, 2026 – Lakelands Public Health is encouraging residents to focus on social connection during Mental Health Week, May 4th to 10th, 2026. This year’s theme highlights the important role social connection plays in supporting mental health and overall well-being, helping to reduce stress, improve mood, and foster a sense of belonging.
