  • Public Health Inspector

    The Public Health Inspector is responsible for monitoring, promoting, and ensuring compliance with the Ministry of Health and Long-Term Care’s Ontario Public Health Standards (2018), under the Health Protection and Promotion Act, related to Foundational Standards, Food Safety, Safe Water, Rabies Prevention and Control, Healthy Environments and Infectious Diseases Prevention and Control and any other programs administered by the Board of Health.

  • Lakelands Public Health Confirms First Influenza Case of 2025/26 Respiratory Season

    October 9, 2025 - Lakelands Public Health (formed from the merger of the Haliburton, Kawartha, Pine Ridge District Health Unit and Peterborough Public Health) is confirming the respiratory season’s first laboratory-confirmed case of Influenza A, commonly known as the flu, in the City of Peterborough.

    Boil Water Advisories

    Generally, the Health Unit issues a Boil Water Advisory when there is known contamination of a water supply OR when there is a risk of contamination to the water supply. The Boil Water Advisory helps to protect the health of the community that the water system serves.  It is a recommendation for residents to only drink tap water if it has been boiled for at least one minute.

This survey is designed to gather initial feedback about how community members understand public health and the role Lakelands Public Health plays in keeping our communities healthy.

    September 5, 2025 - Following the recent water main break, the Village of Millbrook in the Township of Cavan Monaghan, is currently under a Boil Water Advisory. This measure is not taken lightly—it is done to protect your health and the health of those around you. When a water system is compromised, harmful microorganisms can enter the supply.
