The latest data for the Infectious Diseases Dashboard is now available. This dashboard provides information on lab-confirmed cases for more than 70 infectious diseases, including respiratory, sexually transmitted, vaccine-preventable, and vector-borne diseases, as well as outbreaks declared in high-risk settings across the Lakelands Public Health region.
October 15, 2026 – Lakelands Public Health is bringing the 100 Radon Test Kit Challenge to Haliburton County — a national initiative led by Take Action on Radon, with support from Health Canada, to increase radon awareness and testing in communities across Canada.

The dashboard provides current local information on respiratory illness activity across the Lakelands Public Health region, including trends in emergency department visits, hospitalizations, outbreaks, and positivity rates for COVID-19, influenza, and RSV.

Dr. Tran brings a wealth of academic excellence, comprehensive public health training, and diverse clinical experience to the region.
September 10, 2026 - Lakelands Public Health is confirming the first laboratory-confirmed case of Influenza A, commonly known as the flu, in the City of Peterborough. This is one month earlier than last year’s first case, which was confirmed in October.
September 8, 2026 – Lakelands Public Health is partnering with local animal welfare organizations and veterinary clinics across the regions, for its fall campaign of reduced-cost rabies vaccination clinics.
August 24, 2026 – Lakelands Public Health is advising residents that ongoing mosquito surveillance across the region has identified evidence of West Nile virus (WNV) activity, including mosquitoes testing positive for WNV in the Lindsay area.
