November 26th, 2025– As winter approaches and local arenas are once again full of athletes, parents and fans alike, Lakelands Public Health is reminding residents and visitors that the Smoke-Free Ontario Act, 2017 (SFOA) prohibits smoking or vaping on or within 20 metres of all arena property, not just doors.
November 17, 2025 – The Township of North Kawartha and the Municipality of Trent Lakes will pause their seasonal well water test sample drop-off program locations for the winter. The last day to drop off test samples at these municipal offices is Thursday, November 27, 2025. Seasonal service at both locations will resume in early April 2026.
Generally, the Health Unit issues a Boil Water Advisory when there is known contamination of a water supply OR when there is a risk of contamination to the water supply. The Boil Water Advisory helps to protect the health of the community that the water system serves. It is a recommendation for residents to only drink tap water if it has been boiled for at least one minute.

October 9, 2025 -Lakelands Public Health (formed from the merger of the Haliburton, Kawartha, Pine Ridge District Health Unit and Peterborough Public Health) is confirming the respiratory season’s first laboratory-confirmed case of Influenza A, commonly known as the flu, in the City of Peterborough.
