This year’s theme highlights the important role social connection plays in supporting mental health and overall well-being, helping to reduce stress, improve mood, and foster a sense of belonging.

April 22, 2026 – Lakelands Public Health and the Peterborough Humane Society are excited to be partnering to bring a reduced-cost rabies clinic to the North Kawartha Community Centre this Spring.
(April 21, 2026) – Lakelands Public Healthis advising residents and cottage owners on South Lake in the Township of Minden Hills not to use lake water for any household purposes following a fuel oil spill.
April 16, 2026 – Lakelands Public Health is issuing an alert due to a notable increase in suspected drug poisonings in Northumberland County. The substance of concern is suspected to be fentanyl. It may smell like motor oil and may have an unusual texture. Due to the toxicity of the substance, more than one dose of naloxone may be required.
April 15, 2026–Lakelands Public Health is advising residentsand business ownersto take precautions as significant rainfall continues to contribute to flooding across the region. Environment and Climate Change Canada (ECCC) reports that ground conditions are already unable to absorb additional rainfall, leading to increased runoff and elevated flood risk.
The Administrative Assistant will be an integral member of program team as assigned. Will assist program staff with the organization and administration of program activities and provide administrative support in an efficient and courteous manner, ensuring confidentiality at all times.
(March 30, 2026) – The well water sampling program resumes next Tuesday in the Township of North Kawartha and the Municipality of Trent Lakes. The program offers free sample collection kit pick-up and sample drop-off through these municipal offices.
