October 5, 2023 – As we approach World Mental Health Day, the Haliburton, Kawartha, Pine Ridge District Health Unit (HKPR District Health Unit) is proud to join the global community in recognizing World Mental Health Day 2023, which falls on October 10th. This year's theme, "Mental health is a universal human right," emphasizes our commitment to promoting mental well-being for all.

October 3, 2023 - The Haliburton, Kawartha, Pine Ridge District Health Unit (HKPR District Health Unit) would like to advise residents that the XBB.1.5 COVID-19 vaccine will be available in the coming weeks for those at high risk and those aged 65 years and over.

October 1, 2023 - The Haliburton, Kawartha, Pine Ridge District Health Unit (HKPR District Health Unit) is proud to support the Baby-Friendly Initiative (BFI) as a designated organization to empower parents and promote optimal infant feeding practices.

September 25, 2023 - The Haliburton, Kawartha, Pine Ridge District Health Unit (HKPR District Health Unit) is urging residents to sign up for the Centre for Addiction and Mental Health (CAMH) Smoking Treatment for Ontario Patients on the Net program (STOP on the Net program) if they would like help to quit smoking.

September 19, 2023 – This fall the HKPR District Health Unit is teaming up again with participating veterinarians throughout the City of Kawartha Lakes, County of Haliburton and Northumberland County to provide Reduced-Cost Rabies Vaccination Clinics so more dogs and cats can be protected.

June 14, 2023 – The Haliburton, Kawartha, Pine Ridge, District Health Unit (HKPR District Health Unit) would like to advise media and the community of an upcoming Board of Health meeting scheduled for Thursday, September 21, 2023, at 9:30 a.m.

August 29, 2023 – The HKPR District Health Unit and Peterborough Public Health have partnered to deliver the Nurse-Family Partnership Program, an evidence-based home visiting service that ensures young expecting parents receive personal support during pregnancy and after the child is born up to two years of age. August 28, 2023 – The HKPR District Health Unit would like to recognize International Overdose Awareness Day (IOAD) on Thursday, August 31, 2023, by acknowledging all of those who have lost their lives, and those who have been left behind, due to drug poisoning and promoting community events to raise awareness. August 25, 2023 – The Haliburton, Kawartha, Pine Ridge District Health Unit (HKPR District Health Unit) has issued a drug poisoning alert for the City of Kawartha Lakes due to an increase in suspected drug poisonings within the last seven days. Full Story.
