Inspections
Lakelands Public Health conducts regular inspections of different businesses and public settings within the City of Kawartha Lakes, County of Haliburton, Northumberland County and the City and County of Peterborough including:
- public beaches, pools, markets, spas and tattoo and body piercing facilities;
- restaurants, mobile food premises, and businesses that manufacture, distribute or sell food;
- tobacco and vaping retailers; and
- regulated health professionals settings (e.g. physicians, dentists, physiotherapists).
We work closely with business owners and community partners to educate and ensure they are aware of the rules and regulations. In some cases, Public Health Inspectors will issue enforcement activities, such as orders and/or closures, for repeat violations or infractions. The purpose of inspections is to protect you from disease and injuries related to the environments where you live, work, and play.
